WooCommerce SEO Settings in SEOvault AI

SEOVault AI includes specialized WooCommerce integrations to optimize your online store for search engines. This guide covers WooCommerce-specific SEO settings and features.

When WooCommerce is active, SEOvault AI automatically:

  • Registers WooCommerce template variables
  • Adds GTIN/MPN/ISBN fields to product editing
  • Generates Product schema markup
  • Handles product meta descriptions
  • Manages robots directives for cart/checkout pages
  • Excludes WooCommerce post types from sitemaps
  • Optimizes product permalinks
  • Integrates with WooCommerce’s native schema

SEOVault AI adds WooCommerce-specific template variables you can use in your SEO title and description templates:

  • %wc_price% — Formatted product price (e.g., $29.99)
  • %wc_sku% — Product SKU
  • %wc_shortdesc% — Product short description
  • %wc_brand% — Product brand (from brand taxonomy)

Example product title template:

%title% - %wc_price% - %sitename%

Example product description template:

%wc_shortdesc% - Buy %title% for %wc_price% at %sitename%

To configure:

  1. Go to SEOvault AI > Templates
  2. Set product title and description templates
  3. Use WooCommerce variables as needed
  4. Click Save Changes

Product identifiers (GTIN, MPN, ISBN) help with:

  • Google Shopping feeds
  • Rich product results
  • Cross-platform inventory management

The plugin adds a GTIN field to the WooCommerce product editing screen (Inventory tab).

To add GTIN to a product:

  1. Edit a product
  2. Go to the Inventory tab
  3. Enter the GTIN value in the designated field
  4. Update the product

For variable products, you can add GTIN to each variation:

  1. Edit a variable product
  2. Go to Variations
  3. Expand a variation
  4. Enter the GTIN value
  5. Save changes

Configure which identifier type the field represents:

Available types:

  • GTIN-8
  • GTIN-12 (UPC)
  • GTIN-13 (EAN)
  • GTIN-14
  • MPN
  • ISBN

To configure:

  1. Go to SEOvault AI > WooCommerce
  2. Select the GTIN type
  3. Optionally set a custom label
  4. Click Save Changes

Enable per-product identifier fields to manage all identifier types simultaneously:

To enable:

  1. Go to SEOvault AI > WooCommerce
  2. Check Enable Per-Product Identifiers
  3. Click Save Changes

This adds fields for all identifier types to each product edit screen.

Import or export product identifiers via CSV:

To enable:

  1. Go to SEOvault AI > WooCommerce
  2. Check Enable CSV Import/Export
  3. Click Save Changes

This allows you to bulk manage product identifiers through WooCommerce’s native CSV import/export functionality.

SEOVault AI automatically generates Product schema for WooCommerce products.

  • Merges with WooCommerce’s native schema — Enhances rather than replaces WooCommerce’s schema output
  • Variation images — Includes variation-specific images in schema
  • Product attributes — Adds product attributes to schema
  • Return policy — Adds return policy to organization schema
  • Product identifiers — Includes GTIN, MPN, ISBN in schema when available

The plugin generates:

  • Product — For individual products
  • ProductGroup — For product groups with variations

Use the Google Rich Results Test to verify your product schema is correctly implemented.

For products without a custom SEO description, SEOvault AI automatically uses the WooCommerce short description as the meta description.

Priority:

  1. Custom SEO description (if set)
  2. WooCommerce short description
  3. Auto-generated description (if enabled)

SEOVault AI automatically adds noindex to cart and checkout pages to prevent search engines from indexing these transactional pages.

Products marked as “Hidden” in WooCommerce are automatically noindexed.

Optionally remove the WooCommerce generator meta tag from your site’s source code:

To enable:

  1. Go to SEOvault AI > WooCommerce
  2. Check Remove WooCommerce Generator Tag
  3. Click Save Changes

SEOVault AI automatically excludes certain WooCommerce post types from the WordPress sitemap:

Excluded post types:

  • Product shipping classes
  • Other internal WooCommerce post types

This keeps your sitemap focused on customer-facing content.

The plugin includes permalink optimization features for WooCommerce products to create cleaner, more SEO-friendly URLs.

To configure:

  1. Go to SEOvault AI > WooCommerce
  2. Configure permalink settings
  3. Click Save Changes

Optionally display the GTIN on the product page for customers:

To enable:

  1. Go to SEOvault AI > WooCommerce
  2. Check Show GTIN on Product Page
  3. Click Save Changes

The GTIN will appear in the product meta section.

Configure a custom taxonomy for product brands:

To configure:

  1. Go to SEOvault AI > WooCommerce
  2. Set the brand taxonomy slug
  3. Click Save Changes

This enables the %wc_brand% template variable and allows brand-based filtering.

Configure which product attributes are included in schema markup:

Default attributes:

  • Color
  • Pattern
  • Material
  • Size

To customize:

  1. Use the seovaultseo_allowed_product_attributes filter
  2. Add or remove attributes as needed

Set the taxonomy used for product brands:

  • Assign brands to products
  • Use the %wc_brand% variable in templates

  • Monitor product performance in search results

If Product schema is not appearing:

  1. Verify WooCommerce is active
  2. Check that the product is published
  3. Ensure the product is not hidden
  4. Test with Rich Results Test
  5. Check for conflicts with other schema plugins

If the GTIN field is not visible:

  1. Verify WooCommerce is active
  2. Check that you’re on the product edit screen
  3. Go to the Inventory tab
  4. Ensure the GTIN type is configured

If WooCommerce variables are not working in templates:

  1. Verify the variable syntax is correct (%wc_price%, not %wc_price)
  2. Check that you’re on a product page
  3. Ensure the product has the relevant data (price, SKU, etc.)
  4. Test with a simple template first

If cart or checkout pages are indexed:

  1. Verify SEOvault AI is active
  2. Check that robots directives are enabled
  3. Clear your cache if using a caching plugin
  4. Check robots.txt for conflicting rules
